The House
La Fornace captivates you from the moment you arrive. In summer, the gardens are cool and green, irrigated by its own well water, the lavender field scents the air and the cyprus trees set themselves strikingly against the olive groves and rolling Tuscan hills.
Inside, the wide open rooms are beautifully cool with arched doors opening to the garden and the views beyond. The large country kitchen leads out onto a series of terraces, for entertaining, relaxing and sitting watching the spectacular sunsets. Crossing the drive, with its beautiful terracotta pots, a lavender lined path leads you to the lower terrace and below that is the pool with a traditional red brick surround; a wonderfully relaxing spot to read on the sun loungers. As well as the pool, there are a variety of sporting activities on the property such as table tennis, a boule court, bicycles and an outdoor rowing machine. |
Sight seeing
Spring and Autumn are the preferred times of year for those wanting to spend more time sightseeing, winetasting, cycling and exploring the area. La Fornace is perfectly positioned with famous cities such as Florence, Assisi and Siena to the North and East, world renowned vineyards of Montalcino and Montepulciano to the South, and the spectacular Argentario coastline to the West. As the heat of the summer cools down, the whole house is always warm and welcoming as it has central heating throughout, with a large open fire place in the sitting room and plenty of wood provided. There are also braziers on the terraces to take the slight chill off the autumnal evenings.
